Day 16 & 17

Day 16: A song that makes you cry
Wedding music!! Especially Pachabel's "Canon in D". I don't know why, but even if I don't know the person getting married it will make me teary eyed, in a happy way!

Day 17: A Piece of Art
I'm guessing this should be a favorite? Being an art major you would think I would have a favorite... but not so much. I have several artists that I really enjoy.

Claude Monet

Edgar Degas

Jackson Pollock - You have to see the movie "Pollock" (if you haven't already) it's amazing and one of my all time favorites!

Weeked Recap... a week late, and blondies :)

So I'm 3-4 days late with this post... it's been a busy week! Last weekend wasn't SUPER eventful, but it was still a great weekend nonetheless! We had all intentions to have a gigantic birthday party filled weekend in Atlanta with Brice's family. Unfortunately after traveling for 5 hours we made it to his nephew Ashton's birthday 10 minutes before it was over! :( We felt so bad, it would have been a blast too... it was at the bowling alley! Saturday we woke up (EARLY) and headed to Brice's tennis match. I had to snap a few pics of my little tennis pro!

We were supposed to be celebrating his mom's birthday Saturday night, but she ended up sick so our plans got axed. Instead we headed to his sister Shea & brother in law Scott's house and watched the Auburn game. As usual, I had 3 pumpkin beers and fell asleep in the recliner like an old fart. Brice woke me up once the Carolina game was starting and we got ready and headed to dinner. It was scrumptious and I had shrimp and grits of course!

Sunday we woke up and had lunch with Mr. Sprayberry at the yacht club (excuse me, lunch = we devoured the salad & soup bar). I LOVE salad bars... they make me so happy, and they also had sweet potato bisque! YUM! I honestly could have sat on the boat all day long, it was such a gorgeous day! We finally decided to head back towards Columbia since we had the Darius Rucker concert that night at the State Fair.

Darius was amazing, and I expected nothing less. I got some great photos of the fair as the sun was setting.

George Rogers (Former South Carolina football player and 1980 Heisman Trophy winner) made an appearance on stage... I'm surprised he didn't bring his Heisman on stage. He takes that thing everywhere! He is always just hanging out by the stadium at every home game, with crowds of people around him taking photos. STILL 30 years later!

Darius of course sang hits from his current country album as well as his first country album. But the greatest hits of the night were of course Hootie & the Blowfish tunes. He sang "Let Her Cry", "I Only Wanna Be With You" and "Hold My Hand". He also managed to sing Hank Williams Jr.'s "Family Tradition", David Allan Coe's "You Never Even Called Me By My Name" and ended the show with Prince's "Purple Rain" That alone made my night! Darius puts on an amazing concert, and if he or Hootie & the Blowfish do a concert in your area, it is a MUST that you go!

**Please note the South Carolina GAMECOCK flag in the background! Darius makes sure everyone knows what an amazing school USC is, and how much he loved his time there in college. My favorite quote of the night: "I appreciate all you Clemson fans out there wearing your Clemson hats... BUT CLEMSON STILL SUCKS!!" - Darius Rucker**

It's been a crazy week full of work, bridesmaids dress fittings, haunted hayrides and clowns popping out of nowhere with knives! (long story). But tonight amidst my packing for the USC vs. Tennessee game, watching Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, painting my nails and facebooking. I managed to cook up some blondies :) They turned out delicious, not too sweet, just right so they don't hurt my tummy!

1 stick of butter, melted
1 c. brown sugar, packed
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 c all purpose flour
pinch of salt

Butter an 8x8 pan and preheat oven to 350ยบ.  Mix the melted butter and the brown sugar...
omggggg YUM

Add in the egg and vanilla... mix. Then add the rest: salt and flour.

I decided to add in some extra semi-sweet chocolate morsels I had in my pantry. A little chocolate never hurt anybody! Then spread into your 8x8 pan.

Cook in the oven for about 20-25 minutes or until you can insert a toothpick in the center and have it come out clean. Ovens vary. Let cool, cut into squares and serve! YUM!

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! Happy Halloween, Go Cocks & War Eagle!

Day 13, 14 & 15

Catching up once again... the next two days are pretty BORING if you ask me!
13) Fictional Book
14) Non Fictional book...

Fictional book...  I read one book all summer and have already blogged about it as "Favorite Book" in this 30 day blog challenge. I can't say I've read any others! :(

Non-Fictional Book... Do magazines count?? I'm pretty sure the majority of my celebrity gossip is non-fiction :)

Ahhh hello Day 15 :)

Your Dream House... well let's just say that I've already found it. It's on Sullivan's Island, Station 29, The green house about a block from the ocean and... It's for sale for just a measly couple of million. I'm so in love with the porches! While I don't have a photo of one particular house to share, I thought I'd just peruse through some homes online and show my favorite styles!

What can I say... I have great taste! :) Obviously this is not a reality right now. But it's something to aspire to! In the meantime, I'll just keep on dreaming and working hard!

Catching up... Day 10, 11, & 12!

Day 10: A Photo Over 10 Years Ago of You

Maybe 5 or 6 years old??
Day 11: A Photo of You Recently
I thought I'd add a photo I haven't included on my blog. Most of the photos I take every weekend end up on my blog and this one hasn't. A few weeks ago I took some photos for a stock photography company in New York, it was lots of fun! Here is one of the photos.

Day 12: Something You Are OCD About
Well well... let's see. Ok I am OCD about my morning routine! I do not like it messed up! I do pretty much the exact same thing every morning. This is how it goes.

-Wake up and grunt and roll around in my bed for about a minute before I get out. Sometimes I check my email on my phone before I decide to turn on the light.
-Make up my bed (NECESSARY!) and turn on the morning news, NBC because the Today Show follows.
-Go in the living room and turn on the same channel in there.
-Go in the kitchen and make my coffee.
-Take my shower
-Go through my routine of skin products and hair products.
-Dry and style hair
-Pick out what to wear if I hadn't thought about it the night before.
-Make my breakfast, typically oatmeal.
-Throw something in my lunch box, mostly soup and my water bottle with some Emergen-C packets.
-Prepare my 2nd cup of coffee to take with me to work.
-Brush my teeth and grab my purse
-Grab my cup of coffee and lunchbox and head out the door!

Same. routine. every. day. And I love it!!

Weekly Random Ramblings...

This week has actually flown by. I've been so busy with work and stuff to do outside of work that I haven't completely kept up with my blog other than my "30 Day Blog Challenge" posts (which, might I add... I'm very proud of myself for keeping up with!) Some things that have happened to me this week:

1) I realized I drink copious amounts of Emergen-C... it's almost like my second dose of coffee everyday only it isn't coffee. I also found out it's a great way to prevent me from snacking at work! Instead, I run to the bathroom every 5 minutes... which is annoying, but hey, at least I'm hydrated!
Emergen-C = my new BFF
2) I'm sneakier than I thought! I always think I'm going to get caught being sneaky but this week I successfully snuck in Chick-Fil-A to Giuseppi's Trivia Night! AND I have more self control than I thought. I did NOT order waffle fries!!! Also, I did NOT eat any of Brice's pizza! It was torture... I had pizza to my left, alfredo to my right... carbs galore and I didn't get any of it. :(

3) I am trying to experiment with curling my hair. Last winter when Carrie Underwood got engaged and this photo was plastered all over the internet
I thought "woah that is a HUGE rock" and then immediately switched my thoughts to "omg I want her hair!" After several attempts at curling my hair with a traditional curling iron I finally gave up and purchased a Remington Curling Wand.
I gave it a try this morning and I think I really like this new gadget! Of course, over time I will get better with using it. But not too bad for my first time at 7 am half asleep!
It looks better in person, you can see the curl a lot better!

4) InStyle Magazine and People StyleWatch should hire me as a freelance designer. Please take a look at this horrible clipping path/mask!

If you are not familiar of what a clipping path is... it's basically cutting out an object to place it over another. In this case, placing Rachel McAdams over the "InStyle" heading. They should have used a mask and clipped around her hair more delicately so you could see the red peeping though... instead it looks like they cut it out with a pair of scissors and pasted it over. YUCK. Also, on the People StyleWatch cover, Carrie's photo is horribly pixelated and grainy. Must not have been a hi-res! tsk tsk... (You can't see it in this photo, but look at it in the stores)

5) I love roasted pumpkin seeds! I roasted the seeds that came out of my pumpkin I carved with Brice Monday night. I tossed them in some melted butter, mixed with a little kosher salt and Tastefully Simple Seasoned Salt. Spread them on a cookie sheet and baked them in the oven on 350* for about 30 minutes! DELISH! I've been snacking on them at work all week!

6) I love creating calling cards, I delivered these to Caroline tonight! Love them! (I blurred out some of the information... which is why it may look funny!)
Ready for a fun filled weekend with Brice's family followed by the Darius Rucker concert and fair food!! YUM! Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Day 9: A Photo You Took

This is one of my favorite photos I have taken in Charleston. It's actually Stoll's Alley and it's in the battery. I love the old cobblestone walkways and gardens! You can drop me off in the battery ANY day and I'd be a happy camper taking photos!

Caroline Grace Jewelry Giveaway!

Ashley over at Sweet Southern Prep is hosting a Caroline Grace Jewelry Giveaway! Caroline Grace jewelry is gorgeous, I am dying for one of her cuff bracelets! Her jewelry seems to be getting some celebrity attention as well!

Check out this quote: "An editor from Cupcake magazine had asked to borrow some jewelry for a photo shoot for the magazine, and one of their staff writers ended up wearing one of the cuffs to fashion week [in New York].  Well, apparently Tory Burch, Tori Spelling, and Rachel Zoe were among those who admired it while she was wearing it. So basically my head is too big to fit through the door now. Lol. Apparently all 3 asked for my info, so maybe I'll have some celebrity clientele soon!"

Rachel Zoe?? Tory Burch?? I don't much care for Tori Spelling... but seriously!! I think I would almost die if I knew Rachel or Tory admired my work.

Check out some of her jewelry below, gorgeous... and to enter click HERE!

Catching up! Day 6 & 7

I missed day 6 yesterday because carving a pumpkin & watching Dancing With The Stars was far more important. Sorry! So here we go!

Day 6: Ten Of Your Favorite Things

1) Boston Terriers - love my little Sophie!

2) Charleston... There is always something going on SOMEWHERE! I love this city more than any other city!

3) Makeup... a girl can't live without it! I get so extremely excited when I get a new product. Primarily eyeshadow and lipgloss :)

4) My Family... I have the best family in the world, I don't know what I would do without them! I am so thankful I have such wonderful parents and grandparents, I just wish they were here in Charleston with me!

5)My Sweet Bricey Pooh... I don't know what I would do without him! He makes me smile everyday and I am so thankful that he is now in my life!

6) My friends... I have the most wonderful group of friends a girl could ask for! They are always there for me and make me smile! (obviously not all of my friends are in these pictures... these just had nice group shots!)

7) Starbucks... I used to have a theory that if I was having a bad day I could get a white chocolate mocha and everything would be happy again!

8) My Nikon D3000... ahhh my camera! I ooh'd and ahhh'd over this camera. Looked at it everyday online and told everyone how much I was obsessed with it, and how I was saving up my money to get it for myself. To my surprise Brice bought it for me for Christmas... I was TOTALLY caught off guard! :)
9) Music... I don't know what I would do without music. It makes me happy, lets me cry when I need to cry, gives me motivation, and calms me down. I really don't even have just one type that I love! It just depends on my mood... but when in doubt I can always put on Carly or James!

10) Surprising or making other people happy... It isn't a "thing" necessarily, but I get so happy when I have the chance to surprise someone with a gift they have been wanting, or something even as simple as making Brice dinner and seeing him love it! I just like doing for others, sometimes I wish my career gave me more of a chance to help other people out, or just make them smile!

DAY 7: A Photo That Makes You Happy

Well, it's hard to choose just one photo! But for now... I'm leaving it with this:

Carolina: 35 Alabama: 21.... GO COCKS!

Meet Punky the Pumpkin!

Sunday night when I went to the grocery store I made a random decision to buy a pumpkin and do a little carving! More importantly, pumpkin carving = pumpkin seed roasting! Last night Brice came over and we decided we would name him punky the pumpkin! Or as I like to call him punky the punkin! I don't like scary pumpkins so I had to do my traditional happy pumpkin face :) I thought I would share some photos!

After we took this we realized we should have set up the self timer...duh!!

cutting with such precision

Cleaning out the guts!!

My favorite part!!! :)a

seeds... can't wait to eat you!

Punky & me

Brice & Punky

All done! What a happy little pumpkin!
I cleaned my pumpkin seeds and set them out to dry over night. Tonight I'm planning on seasoning and roasting them. I've seen several recipes for roasting. Tossing them in butter with salt or garlic salt, and then there are spicy versions too. Does anyone have suggestions or tips?
